San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner is considering dropping the W from his last name so it’d officially be Hitner. It all started with Donte Whitner selling t-shirts with “Legal Hinter” across it. The shirt references his hit on St. Louis Rams wide receiver Chris Givens, which was illegal and resulted in him being fined.

It sparked an idea for Whitner.

Armed with Mama Whitner’s permission it seems like nothing could stop Donte from making the change.

Whether it actually happens, we have yet to see. Will it help him get the benefit of the doubt in future calls? I doubt it.
