Evan Turner thought he would be traded

Evan Turner was the 2nd pick in the 2010 draft. Drafted by the Sixers, Turner has underwhelmed during his tenure in Philadelphia. Last season, he was part of a team that didn’t perform well. The Sixers cleaned house when they fired their GM and coach, and they are now in rebuilding mode. Their all-star Jrue Holiday was traded on draft night for Nerlens Noel, and that showed that they are in it for the future. As for Turner, he told USA Today that he expected to be traded:

"Evan Turner was preparing to be traded this offseason after the Philadelphia 76ers dealt his good friend, All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday, to the New Orleans Pelicans for injured teenage center Nerlens Noel and a first-round draft pick in 2014.“I was getting ready for it,” Turner said on the eve of training camp. And he knows his tenure in Philadelphia likely remains short-lived.Turner is the antithesis of a Sam Hinkie player. The analytic-minded new Sixers president and general manager aims to identify and mine undervalued, efficient talent, and Turner has proven a treasure chest that contains an I-owe-you, a promise of riches to this point unfulfilled."

Unless he has a breakout season, Turner will likely sign somewhere else for not a lot of money. He is also delusional:

"“I definitely want to keep getting better and keep shooting better, but I’m not going to dwell on 14, 7 and 5,” Turner said, rounding his statistics up. “So, I mean, I don’t know what else you want me to say. You throw somebody else in that situation and do that. … If things would have gone better we probably would have won some more games. I’ll take responsibility for that. But I’m not going to get chastised for 14, 7 and 5. Somebody hasn’t done that in a while. I’m going to keep getting better and keep developing … but I’m not going to get beat down over what occurred last year."

Turner actually averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, so he was clearly exaggerating. He only shot 41% from the field, and even said he quit practicing 3 pointers. Turner needs to correct a lot if he wants to prove he belongs in the NBA long-term.
