Virginia’s David Watford’s incredible diving touchdown (GIF)
By Mike Dyce
I love college football. It seems like every Saturday we’re treated to special games and incredible plays. We have already seen an incredible one-handed catch from Alabama wide receiver DeAndrew White. Now we’re treated to this incredible touchdown run, dive, jump, leap, from Virginia Cavaliers quarterback David Watford.
It was a 27 yard run from Watford to the left side. He was getting close to the end zone when a Ball State defender was ready to meet him along the side line. He forced him to go out-of-bounds but Watford channeled his inner Reggie Bush and leaped. While in the air he extends the ball towards the inside of the pylon. Initially it was ruled down at the one and he wasn’t given the touchdown.
Replay overturned that call though.
That score gave Virginia a 17-7 lead at the start of the second quarter. They’ve lost that lead now and currently are tied with Ball State at 17 points a piece.
Watford has had a productive day though so far. He has currently passed for 140 yards and rushed for another 48 yards. There is a lot of football left this game hasn’t even reached half time yet.
I wonder if Watford did the ‘da da da’ SportsCenter theme to himself after this touchdown?
