Luke Joeckel injury update: Will miss rest of the season with broken ankle
By Chris Logel
When it rains it pours. This is certainly the case if you are a Jacksonville Jaguar fan. The news coming out of Jacksonville is not good regarding No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel. Joeckel was injured in the first quarter of the Jaguars game against the St. Louis Rams today. He was unable to return to the game and we found out why courtesy of the Jacksonville Jaguar twitter account.
What makes this loss even more unbearable is that just a week ago, The Jaguars were one of the deepest teams in the NFL at offensive tackle. All-pro Eugene Monroe was a solid left tackle but the Jaguars were wanting to move him and let Joeckel get a season of experience at left tackle. Joeckel was playing right tackle prior to that for Jacksonville.
The Jaguars seemingly made a rash trade with the Baltimore Ravens that sent Monroe north to clear room for Joeckel at left tackle. That experiment lasted less than 15 minutes. According to numerous sites, the Jags may have jumped the gun on their offer as other teams seemed more than willing to give up more than the Ravens did to get Monroe.
Now they are left with virtually nothing at tackle protecting quarterbacks that, not coincidently, are getting hurt. This season cannot get much worse for the Jags.
