Tony Romo capped off the best game of his career with an unfortunate moment that will allow his critics who continue to harp on the “he’s not clutch” angle to discredit everything he has been able to do since taking over the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Illinois.

Romo threw for over five hundred yards and five touchdowns as he came less than 50 yards within the NFL all-time single-game passing record, but it was another late game misstep that cost his team a chance at winning the game.

With a few minutes to go, the ball and three timeouts plus the two minute warning, the Cowboys were in good position to drive down the field and upset the Denver Broncos. However, Romo felt pressure and attempted to force a throw that was picked off by Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan.

After the pick, Peyton Manning and company ran out the clock before kicking the game-winning field goal.

While the crucial mistake by Romo will be the play that is remembered, you have to give him credit for outperforming Peyton Manning and keeping the Cowboys in the game against the NFL’s best team.
