The Minnesota Vikings signed quarterback Josh Freeman last night and it looks like the Christian Ponder era is coming to an end. As of now, head coach Leslie Frazier says either Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder will start this weekend. Freeman still has a lot of catching up to do and hasn’t even arrived in Minnesota yet.

The Vikings deal with Freeman is for one year and about $3 million. Despite this move, the Vikings and Frazier are still insisting Ponder has a future with the team.

Christian Ponder hasn’t been spectacular in his time in the NFL. He has completed just under 60% of his passes for 5,479 yards over three seasons, 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

Frazier talked to the two other quarterbacks about Freeman coming in this morning.

And reportedly they’re ok with it. Matt Cassel expressed no frustration.
