NFL Week 5: Biggest Winners and Losers
By Josh Sanchez
Winners
Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts were on fire on Sunday afternoon as they were able to handle the Seattle Seahawks, who many had believed were the cream of the crop in the NFC. Add this win to the win on the road against the San Francisco 49ers and the Colts could be a sleeping giant that is waking up for a potential late postseason run.
Andrew Luck has been incredible and T.Y. Hilton has emerged as the go-to playmaker on offense, as the defense continues to make big plays and make sure the Colts offensive success pays off.
Denver Broncos
Peyton Manning is nearly unstoppable and that continued again in a wild shootout in Dallas. Sure, Manning threw his first interception of the year, but he was able to make up for it late by driving his team down the field for the game-winning field goal.
The defense came up big when it mattered after being torched all day and they continue their unbeaten streak.
Kansas City Chiefs
While Jake Locker was out of action, the Chiefs game against the Tennessee Titans smelled like a trap game but they were able to rise to the occasion. The defense continues to play at a championship level, while the offense was finally making some big plays down the field.
If Kansas City’s offense can continue to perform like they did in Week 5, they will prove to everyone that they are the real deal and last year’s two-win season may have been a fluke.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers had a slow start to the season, but they have turned things around thanks to an unprecedented running game. In the past, the Packers have relied heavily on the arm of Aaron Rodgers, but on Sunday the running game stepped up in a big way.
Green Bay was riding under the radar thanks to the hype surrounding the Seahawks, 49ers and Atlanta Falcons coming into the season, but Green Bay is showing that they belong in the discussion as one of the top teams in the NFC.
