With Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub injured and unable to go this weekend, the team will be turning to a relatively unknown commodity against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Gary Kubiak announced on Thursday that 2013 undrafted free agent Case Keenum will get the start for the Texans in Week 7.
Keenum beat out T.J. Yates for the starting job.
From Texans reporter John McClain of the Houston Chronicle:
Kubiak said he told the team today that Keenum will start at KC. "It's a tough decision cause both have done so well."

Kubiak "We need a spark. Tough place to play. We're not sending him out there alone. He's excited. He's done well since camp."

Kubiak "I have confidence in Case. Matt and TJ will help. We trust his reactions. He's going against one of the toughest defenses."

Kubiak "I didn't hesitate cause I feel like we need a spark. I think it's the best thing for our team."

As Kubiak pointed out, Keenum was a standout during camp, but we have yet to see him in a regular season game.
The interesting thing will be to see how Keenum reacts when he gets a taste of the best pass rushing defense in the NFL. Kansas City was already expected to win, but this could be another opportunity for them to show just how great their defense is this year.
