Texas Rangers pitcher Derek Holland has been known for his antics and playfulness. He’ll get a chance to take those skills Rangers fans are familiar with to the big screen. One of Holland’s favorite movies is Dumb and Dumber, and he can recite most of it. Needless to say, Holland was ecstatic to find out that the Farrelly Brothers are making a sequel to the movie.
Holland and teammate Justin Grimm even dressed up as characters from the movie and walked around New York City for an MLB Fan Cave video. They introduce it at as their audition tape and ask to be put in the movie.
I guess the Farrelly Brothers saw the video invited Holland to the set. While enjoying hanging out with Jim Carrey, they invited Holland to be in the movie.
“I’m thrilled to death,” Holland said, via ESPN Dallas. “I’m very, very, very excited. I can’t really say too much. I have to keep it a secret. But it’s my favorite movie.”
Unfortunately his cameo doesn’t involve any lines or a goofy haircut.
“There’s no haircut or anything like that,” Holland said.
“They weren’t ready for my acting career to take off like that,” Holland joked about his lack of lines.
