Season Outlook

After one of the franchise’s best years in decades the Knicks are expected by most to take a step back this season. If you were to tell me that you believe the Knicks will fall short this year due to what we believe will be an improved Indiana Pacers Team taking the next step, the Chicago Bulls getting former MVP Derrick Rose back in their lineup, the Nets offseason power moves, and the Miami Heat being, well, the Miami Heat, then you might have a point.

But regardless of what has happened with those other franchises one thing remains absolutely clear to me:

The New York Knicks are a better team today, than they were at any point last year.

Because of the improved competition at the top of the Eastern Conference it is very possible that the Knicks revamped roster may not actually equate to more post-season success, but either way you look at it, the Knicks have a younger, deeper, and more talented team than they had at any point in 2012.

Since many of the leagues bottom feeders will be happily tanking this season in an effort to move up in one of the best drafts of the past 30 years I do not see the improvement at the top as having much of an effect on the Knicks, or any other teams, win/loss records in the East this season. Expect this team to take its fans on yet another roller coaster of emotions over the next six months, while Carmelo Anthony and co. try to prove their doubters wrong and bring New York City it’s first title since 1972.

Projected record: 52-30
