New York Knick’s newest star, Metta World Peace, pulled a Jay Z. On his way to Madison Square Garden. Jay Z routinely rides the subway to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for concerts. He even was seen on video of the trip chatting up an old lady on the subway who asked if he was famous. She clearly noticed the camera phones in everyone’s hand.
Newsday reporter Jim Baumbach documented the ride on Twitter:
Just rode the subway from Queensbridge to 34th with @MettaWorldPeace before his first game. Said he's always wanted to do that as a Knick.

.@MettaWorldPeace grew wistful on train talking about how much he rode this line to basketball games as a kid. Remembered most of the stops.

Of course F train stops a few blocks from MSG, so @MettaWorldPeace had to walk to MSG. The crowd grew and smartphones were snapping away.

Metta World Peace on taking the subway instead of driving to MSG. "It's easier ... Bloomberg has too many rules on the street." #Knicks
