You may have noticed Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose rocking some strange looking tape on his neck the past few days after feeling some stiffness, so many people have been asking what exactly it is Rose is wearing.

First, if you haven’t seen the tape, here is an image:

What Rose is wearing is Kinesio Tape, which was invented by by Japanese chiropractor Kenzo Kase.

The tape is expected to help reduce pain pain, reduce inflammation, relax muscles, enhance performance, improve range of motion and help with rehab. Of course, there are still plenty of skeptics and those who don’t think there is any real benefit to wearing the tape.

There have been some inconsistent results in the research about how much the tape really helps, but all that matters in the end is the confidence it gives the player in the injury they are nursing.

For Rose, he must be a believer because he is considering wearing the tape for the remainder of the year.

Considering Rose sat out an entire season last year based solely on having no confidence in his surgically repaired knee, Bulls fans should be happy that he is a believer in Kinesio tape and that it makes him feel comfortable whether it works or not.
