Suns guard Goran Dragic has sprained left ankle
By Brad Rowland
For the second time this season (the very short NBA season), Phoenix Suns point guard Goran Dragic has suffered an ankle sprain.
The simple words above from Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic bring news that Dragic is injured, but his follow-up column tells even more of the story. Dragic was originally hurt back on October 17th (on the same ankle), but this time, Coro quoted Dragic as saying that “It felt worse this time.”
This is terrible news for the on-court product of the Suns, as even a short-term absence would spell disaster. Phoenix already dealt away their only interior option in Marcin Gortat, and with that, Dragic and Eric Bledsoe are considered to be the only “above-average” players left with the Suns.
On the other hand, Phoenix is widely expected to be “tanking” this season, and with that, they have a little bit of incentive to keep Dragic out until he is unquestionably 100% healthy. No timetable for his return has been announced (or even speculated) but I would expect that we won’t see Dragic for a good while. Stay tuned for more updates as they arrive.
