Buy Low Candidates (November 6, 2013)
As I illustrated in Chapter 2 of The Fantasy Basketball Trading Bible, you want to sell at the peak and buy at the trough. Here is a list of buy low candidates.
Buy Low – Trade for these players as quickly as possible because their values will increase as the season progresses. If you own any of these players, remain patient, and don’t undersell.
Jonas Valanciunas – I own Jonas, and it hasn’t been a pleasant ride. Toronto has alluded to dismantling the roster, and Rudy Gay will probably be the first to go. Jonas will be the last man standing in a Raptor uniform.
Victor Oladipo – He has shown signs of stardom, but his consistency might drive his owner crazy. He isn’t a fantasy starter quite yet. However, the fans love him, and Orlando has no reason to succeed in the East. If Jameer is traded, Victor will be fantasy magic.
Derrick Rose – He’s trying to shake off all of that rust like a wet dog. He will come around, so try to take advantage of an impatient owner.
Kawhi Leonard – It’s just a matter of time before he has a breakout game. The Spurs need more from him, and Popovich will demand it. He hasn’t been terrible, but the best is yet to come.
Kevin Durant – If there is such thing as buying low on KD, try it!
Thaddeus Young – Young has been lackluster at best, but he has to produce for this ultra-thin squad.
Joakim Noah – I hate to advocate buying low on an injury risk, but you might can grab him for pennies on the dollar.
Jrue Holiday – I have been watching all of the Hornets’ games, and he doesn’t look bad at all. The team looks wonderful in stretches, but their chemistry must be developed. He doesn’t have any competition, so strike while the iron is cold.
Gordon Hayward – I’m heterosexually in love with Hayward, so buy low while he is wallowing in mediocrity.
George Hill – The Pacers are rolling, and Hill is usually Mr. Consistent. He will snap out of this funk soon.
Derrick Favors – He has too much potential to be performing this poorly.
Jeff Green – I believe Rondo’s return will be a positive for Green, but who knows when that might happen? He is going to be inconsistent, but he’s worth the risk if you can get him at a cheap price.
Serge Ibaka – Serge is stinking it up like a Taco Bell bathroom. He has nowhere to go but up.
Rudy Gay – Toronto’s staff is out hunting Rudy’s eye surgeon at the moment.
Kyrie Irving – I tried to tell everyone that he wasn’t 1st round material. However, he’s much better than #211 on the Player Rater.
