The NBA season is still very young at this stage, but it’s probably not a good thing when one of a team’s best players has only appeared in one game for the year. That is where the Washington Wizards are with big man Nene Hilario, but they could be in for a positive surprise on Wednesday night.

According to the official Twitter account of the Wizards (see above), Nene will be a “gametime decision” after being seen at shootaround this morning, and that is positive news for the team. Washington is in desperate need of a win against the less-talented Sixers on Wednesday, in part because of an 0-3 start, but moreso because of an upcoming gauntlet of a schedule.

Following a more than winnable game against Philly, the Wizards will take on the Brooklyn Nets at home (yikes) before embarking on a 3-game road trip that includes the Thunder (ouch), Mavericks (tough in Dallas), and Spurs (double yikes). Taking on that trip without Nene (who put up 12 points and 3 rebounds in 30 minutes during the season opener) would be disastrous, and the Wizards need him in a big way.

Keep an eye on reports as tip-off approaches, but that sound you hear is a collection of Wizards fans praying for good health for their best big man.
