49ers S Eric Reid takes hit, evaluated for concussion (GIF)
San Francisco 49ers rookie free safety Eric Reid went down with a concussion in week two against NFC West division rival Seattle.
It appears he may have another.
Reid took a shot to the side of the helmet while going for a tackle on Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert. The safety went down and didn’t move for a few minutes as teammates gathered around.
Reid eventually sat up and was able to get off the field under his own power and is now being evaluated by 49ers training staff for a possible concussion. It didn’t look good.

San Francisco already lost All Pro tight end Vernon Davis to a concussion earlier in the game, in addition to defensive lineman Ray McDonald and backup tight end Garrett Celek to injury.
Safe to say it hasn’t been a good day for the Niners health-wise.
Meanwhile, San Francisco is leading 9-7 as the 4th quarter approaches. Neither team has been very impressive offensively with 49ers running back Frank Gore leading all rushers with 79 yards on 14 carries.
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has gone just 11-of-24 for 136 yards with an interception thus far. His counterpart Colin Kaepernick has gone just 9-of-13 for 71 yards.
It’s been a battle of defenses and mistakes, seemingly a race to see who will make the least.
