The Marshall football team will wear special helmets to honor the 75 people lost in the 1970 crash. The helmets will look like their normal helmets, but instead of the green M on the side, they’ll have the number 75 in the same font and color.

There are so many out of the ordinary helmets and uniform changes in college football that it is refreshing to see something like this done. The helmet is simple, elegant and classy and it is for a good cause. It isn’t a chrome helmet, or turtle shell helmet. Just white, with 75 in green.

The plane crash occurred on November 14th of 1970, and Thursday night’s game will fall on the 33-year anniversary. The crash and the school’s recovery was made into a movie starring Matthew McConaughey.
