Thunder guard Russell Westbrook and Wizards’ forward Nene have both been ejected from Sunday night’s tilt between Washington and Oklahoma City at Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown OKC.

Earlier in the second half, Westbrook and Nene received double technical fouls for having words after Nene blocked a shot attempt by the Thunder point guard. The two players got tangled up again a few minutes later, with Westbrook ending up on the court while Nene passed the ball ahead for an easy fast break score from Wizards’ center Marcin Gortat.

The ejection occurred when Westbrook gave Nene a shove, and evidently Nene said something back to him, earning a double-ejection.

Immediately after Westbrook and Nene’s ejections, Oklahoma City went on a 9-0 run as Washington maintained a 96-93 lead with under thirty seconds remaining in the game. This has been an impressive comback for the Thunder, who need to win to stay ahead of the charging Minnesota Timberwolves in the Northwest division.

Westbrook was playing in just his fourth game since returning to the Thunder after completing his recovery from off-season knee surgery.
