Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has come under fire for his sideline demeanor and what was perceived as negative attitude. Even though video of the interaction showed that he wasn’t being negative and was having a constructive conversation there was still a lot of criticism directed towards him.
“When you don’t know Dez and you don’t hear the words that are coming out of his mouth, his animation is really aggressive,” Cowboys wide receiver coach Derek Dooley said. “I think [the criticism] was harder on him than most people realize.”
Dez Bryant was hardly targeted in the Cowboys loss to the New Orleans Saints. He caught one pass for 44 yards and was asked why he wasn’t targeted more.
“I just do as asked. That’s what I do. I can’t answer that,” Bryant said, via Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.
“We need to get him the ball more,” Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “I think that’s the kind of thing that is a reasonable thing that you can adjust over a two-week period that we’re going into with our bye. How do we work to get him the ball more?”
WR coach Derek Dooley: "Our expectations [of Dez Bryant] are higher than anybody else we can coach. There's a lot more we expect out of him"
