Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson was arrested under suspicion of DWI following the team’s win over the Washington Redskins on Thursday night. Head coach Leslie Frazier said that Simpson will played, according to Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
This is standard operating procedure in the NFL, the league usually waits to see what the legal system will do. Simpson has a court date on December 11th. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe was arrested for possession of marijuana and is also expected to start and play on Sunday.
Simpson also apologized for his arrest.
“I sincerely apologize for the attention that I have brought to the fans, community and myself,” Simpson said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I’ve just got great support with this team, and they’re going to help with whatever arises.”
