Hearing this news doesn’t really surprise me considering how the Marlins have been cleaning house the last couple of years.
I still slip up once in awhile and call this team the Florida Marlins, it’s weird knowing they have a new stadium and what not. Anyways, according to Ken Rosenthal on Twitter, the Miami Marlins are listening to offers for first baseman Logan Morrison.
Right now it’s nothing but listening, but you would have to think Morrison would be moved if the right ‘too good to be true’ offer is placed on the table. Unless you’re a guy like Giancarlo Stanton, you’re spot on this roster could be in jeopardy.
Take a look at Hanley Ramirez, a guy who was thought to be the future of this Marlins organization and seemed to be untouchable. He was later traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers which was a pretty surprising move that honestly took me by surprise.
There are no team names listed, but I’m sure the Colorado Rockies, New York Mets and the Minnesota Twins could possibly be involved.
Morrison hit just .242/.333/.375 across the line with six home runs and 36 RBI’s. His career season was back when the Marlins were still called the ‘Florida Marlins’ in 2011 where he hit 23 home runs and pushed 72 runs across the plate.
Sources tell me and @jonmorosi that #Marlins are drawing significant trade interest in Logan Morrison. No deal close, Marlins listening…
