Yankees’ Derek Jeter expects to play shortstop in 2014

The New York Yankees and their fans are hoping that their Captain, Derek Jeter will be able to bounce back after having an injury plagued season and get things back on track.
You would have to think that this will more than likely be the last season we see Derek Jeter in a Major League starting lineup, so he would want to go out on top. During the off-season, this man is going to be on a mission.
According to Chad Jennings on Twitter, DJ says his leg feels better and expects to play Shortstop in 2014. Now some news broke yesterday that the New York Yankees were close to re-signing Brendan Ryan just in case Jeter isn’t where they thought he would be.
Now what happens with this organization when Jeter finally calls it quits? I’m guessing that Ryan could be picked up for at least another two or three years as a possible temporary replacement for Jeter until they figure out who will take over.
Their top prospects in the minors right now are mostly pitching related besides 20 year old catcher Gary Sanchez.
And Eduardo Nunez is more a utility player than he is a primary shortstop.
