Bucs DE Da’Quan Bowers out with a concussion
On Friday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had listed defensive end Da’Quan Bowers as questionable with the hopes that he would be able to play today against the rival Atlanta Falcons. However, it appears he will miss the game.
According to Peter Schrager of FOXSports.com, via Pro Football Talk, Bowers will be inactive today. It appears the Bowers was unable to be cleared from his concussion he suffered last week.
Bowers has his first half-sack of the season last Monday night against the Miami Dolphins. It was also the Bucs’ first win of the season. William Gholston will likely see the snaps that had been going to Bowers, as the Bucs try to follow-up last week with another win. It is certainly possible, as the Falcons have underachieved all season, and are reeling with injuries.
Bowers, once thought to be a top-10 talent, dropped in the 2011 draft because of a knee injury. He was picked by Tampa Bay in the second round, and at the time was seen as a steal. But after two seasons, Bowers has been lackluster as a pass rusher. While he is only 23, it will take more than a half of a sack for Bowers to prove his worth.
