Buy Low Candidates (11-20-13)
You must act quickly when these Buy Low lists are constructed. Many guys (Serge Ibaka, Marc Gasol, Bradley Beal, Pau Gasol, Rudy Gay, Derrick Favors, and Kyrie Irving) from my last two articles on the subject started performing admirably as soon as the list was compiled. Some players are still underperforming, so revisit Buy Low Candidates and Going Fishing for Underperformers.
Add the following men to your trade radar. Like my mom and dad always taught me, only buy things on sale.
Al Jefferson – Big Al hasn’t disappointed with his play, but his lingering ankle issues have frustrated his owners beyond belief. An impatient manager might be willing to dump the guy they might have taken over Anthony Davis.
Kyle Lowry – This might seem like an odd addition because Kyle has been playing pretty well. Here’s the kicker. Lowry will be shedding his finger splint in a few weeks. His percentages have been atrocious, but all of the other stats are there. Once he gets all 5 fingers back on his left hand, his shooting will improve, and he will rise in the rankings.
Tim Duncan – Although the Spurs are winning, TD has admitted to playing terribly. If you can stomach the DNP’s later in the year, you might be able to land Duncan at a huge discount right now.
Goran Dragic – If you have been keeping up with the Suns, you know that Goran has had a ridiculous string of unusual injuries. Many of these annoyances occurred during the games, so his statistics are a bit skewed. Even if they eventually trade him, he should be able to maintain or exceed his current numbers.
John Wall – Here is another PG that isn’t shooting the ball well. Wall is killing FG%’s across the fantasy basketball circuit. If he just increases it to 42%, he will be averaging over 20 points per game. Wall shot 44% from the field last year, but his 3 point attempts have increased considerably. With all things considered, I have a hard time believing that he continues to shoot below 37% like he is doing now. Like I love to say, strike when the iron is cold.
I rummaged through some old basketball cards in my closet the other day. How long has it been since you have heard these names: T.J. Ford, Michael Sweetney, Jeryl Sasser, Wally Szczerbiak, Bonzi Wells, and Austin Croshere. I remember drafting Wally and Bonzi in the 4th and 5th rounds of my early fantasy days. That seems like centuries ago.
I’ll be perfectly frank. Not enough people read this article. It is my best piece of work to date. Check it out. Contact me at alpinefantasy@yahoo.com.
