According to a report from Profootballtalk, Carolina Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson suffered a sprained MCL last night against the New England Patriots.  The premier defensive end had to be carted off of the field during the game on Monday Night Football in what looked like it could be a season-ending injury.  Johnson has been listed as week to week.

This comes as a huge sigh of relief as Johnson is leading a potent defense with 8.5 sacks.  The Panthers have one of the best and youngest front sevens in the NFL which has helped lead them to a 6-game winning steak including their victory against the Patriots last night.  After a 1-3 start, the Panthers have found themselves in the middle of the playoff chase, currently in second place in the NFC South with both games against the first place New Orleans Saints left to play.  The Panthers prepare to play the Miami Dolphins on the road this week in hopes of extending their winning to seven in a row.
