Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Yasiel Puig brought some little league players to Dodgers Stadium to tour the facilities and play on the field. There is a little league field that looks over the Dodgers parking lot and one day, Puig ventured over to take in a game. He joined the little leaguers workout and found out that one of the kids had never been to Dodgers Stadium.
Puig set out to change that.
“I told one of them that I would bring them to Dodger Stadium to practice on the field,” said Puig, via MLB.com. “I’m happy to be able to spend this time with them and see how much they enjoy being here. This is what makes me feel good.”
He pitched 40 minutes of batting practice, let them tour the clubhouse and sit in the lockers. He also let them get some swings in the underground batting cages. For Puig it was all about giving back.
“I played Little League when I was 9, went through the system, and now I’m grateful that I’m able to do this for these kids,” said Puig. “Maybe they’ll be able to support me when I get old.”
