San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks was fined for his hit on Drew Brees late in their game. He was flagged for a 15 yard penalty on the play and if he was fined he had a pair of former NFL linebackers offering to chip in.
“This is the most embarrassing call in the National Football League since the Tuck Rule and Tom Brady,” Ray Lewis said, who offered to pay half. “I’m serious. I’ve just never seen this type of insult to defenders.”
“Linebackers, we’ve got each other’s back,” Ted Bruschi said, who offered to pay a third, according to another ESPN guy, Adam Schefter. “Keep hitting him hard. Get tough Drew Brees.”
He was in fact fined a total of $15,750 and Ray Lewis said he’d follow through and give him a check. Brooks said he has told Lewis and Bruschi to put away their check books.
R. Lewis on Brooks fine "I think it's a terrible decision. I will see Ahmad on Monday & I will have a check in hand for half of the fine."
