Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker suffered a concussion during last week’s big win over the Kansas City Chiefs, which was their first loss of the season, and his status for this weekend’s game against the New England Patriots was in doubt.
Welker was expected to play on Sunday, which became more of a reality on Friday when he was able to practice in full.
As we all wait to see if Welker will officially suit up against New England, Broncos interim head coach Jack Del Rio left no doubt that the team’s receiver will be available for Peyton Manning.
“It’s kind of like Peyton (Manning) was a while back — if you had the ‘definitely will go’ category, he’d probably be on there too,” Del Rio said, via the Denver Post.
Welker was able to pass the NFL-mandated concussion tests and has been cleared by an independent neurologist, so all signs point to Welker suiting up for the Broncos and helping the team’s offense put on a strong performance.
