The San Diego Chargers are out of the race in the AFC West, no question, but they’ve been pretty good against teams late in the season under quarterback Phillip Rivers.
Today they’ll be playing a fired up Kansas City team who’s trying to stay tied atop the West with Denver and the news gets worse for Charger fans. Thanks to ESPN’s Ed Werder, we know that Phillip Rivers in cold conditions is … winless?
Temperature at Arrowhead is 15 degrees. High forecast to be 32. SD QB Philip Rivers has 3 career starts in temps 32 or colder and lost all

It is a little bit surprising that Rivers a) hasn’t played in these temperatures more often and b) hasn’t ever won one of these games. It makes sense though, he’s a warm weather acclimated quarterback and his team is the same way.
I still remember the playoffs several years ago where the Chargers went to New England in the AFC Playoffs and played well for about a half, before they ultimately froze up and fell apart. We’ll see if he can reverse the trend today in KC, but honestly I wouldn’t bet on it.
