Mavericks at Pelicans final score: Dallas defeats New Orleans 100-97
Just one night after rallying for an 89-82 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats, the Dallas Mavericks did it again Wednesday night. This time, the rally wasn’t nearly as difficult or dramatic, but the Mavericks still trailed by seven late in the third quarter on the road and came away with a 100-97 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Dirk Nowitzki had a team-high 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds, blocked four shots, dished out three assists and recorded two steals in the win.
Jrue Holiday had 26 points and Al-Farouq Aminu scored 16 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in the loss.
The Mavericks cut the lead to two by the end of the third quarter. They took the lead early in the final quarter and quickly pushed the advantage to six before the Pelicans stormed back, taking a one-point lead on two Ryan Anderson free throws at the 3:55 mark. The Mavericks immediately answered on a Jose Calderon three. Anderson and Holiday each tied the game with the last Pelicans’ bucket coming on Holiday’s three-pointer that nodded things up at 97, but Nowitzki scored the last three points, all on free throws.
The Mavericks are now 12-8 while the Pelicans fall to 9-9.
