As is always the case after a full season of NFL action, there will be plenty of NFL head coaching vacancies and teams will be looking for ways to fill the void. Every year, it appears that ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden is mentioned in coaching searches, but you can scratch Gruden from your wish list for at least one more year.
On Sunday morning, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen said on NFL Sunday Countdown that the his colleague will remain committed to Monday Night Football through at least 2014, so don’t expect a return to the sidelines.
Mortensen noted that Gruden also enjoys the Gruden Camp specials during draft season and he would like to continue doing that.
There is a possibility that Gruden could return to coaching in 2015 if the right job opens up, but he currently has a cozy job in the booth and it looks like that is where he is the most comfortable remaining. Teams would love to bring in a Super Bowl winning head coach, but they will have to look elsewhere.
