NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Silver are reporting that the Tennessee Titans are expected to release running back Chris Johnson following the 2013 season. Johnson is in the third year of a six-year, $55.26 million deal.

Head coach Mike Munchak is reportedly coaching for his job, and if that were the case, it wouldn’t necessarily make sense to expect Johnson to be cut not knowing who the incoming head coach would be. If Munchak stays that makes more sense possibly because the Titans are playing a more pass-oriented offense while being built for the run.

It was also reported that the Titans don’t intend to pick up the club option on Jake Locker for the 2015 season. The Titans are expected to make a run at quarterback Jay Cutler if he doesn’t resign with the Chicago Bears.
