NFL Standings Week 14: Divisional races become clearer

Some divisional races cleared up on Sunday. The Carolina Panthers win streak came to an end against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football, giving the Saints sole possession of first place in the NFC South. The NFC East and the NFC North standings both have an interest in the outcome of the Monday Night Football game.

If the Dallas Cowboys win, they’ll also have an 8-5 record like the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys would sit ahead of the Eagles though and in first place in the NFC East winning the tie breaker on head-to-head win percentage.

If the Chicago Bears win, they’ll have the same 7-6 record as the division leading Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, they lost their match ups against the Lions this season and would still sit behind them in the standings. It would set them up to take over first if they can keep winning and Detroit stumbles.

Every AFC team has a two-game lead for the most part, with the exception of the Denver Broncos lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. The Indianapolis Colts have already clinched their division.
