In a nice, solid six-game slate on Monday night, there were some big road wins for the Nuggets, Clippers, and Blazers against plucky opponents while the Warriors went down on the road in Charlotte. The Rudy Gay trade looked great for a day at least as the Kings rolled over the Mavs, and the Grizzlies won at home over Orlando. Here are the biggest fantasy performers of the day that staked their owners out a good lead in weekly scoring formats.
The Warriors couldn’t get the win, but it wasn’t Curry’s fault as he made five three-pointers on his way to 43 points. He didn’t have a high shooting percentage (14-32) but he did contribute nine assists, six rebounds, and a pair of blocks to your peripheral stats.
After missing last Tuesay’s game with an ankle injury, Cousins has come back with three strong performances but none was as big as last night. He led the Kings to the win with 32 points and 19 to go with three assists, three steals, and a block.
Walker powered the Bobcats past Golden State with 31 points of his own to go with fives assists, five rebounds, and a pair of three’s. He has been heating it up lately producing helpful fantasy numbers in every category but shooting percentage.
Alongside Cousins big game, Williams poured in 31 points of his own with five rebounds and five steals while hitting a trio of three-pointers. He’s owned in less than 20% of ESPN leagues, but it will be interesting to see how he fits in the ever-changing Kings roster.
Paul let the Clippers past the Sixers in Phily with 13 assists to go with his 25 points, three steals, and a rebound. Paul shot 10-18 on the field and continues to provide assists with low turnovers and higher shooting percentage than most guards.
Jordan owned the glass with 21 rebounds last night to go with his 11 points and a steal. His only liability is free throw percentage, but he gives you huge rebounding and block numbers.
Thomas started at the point and produced finishing with four three-pointers, 12 assists, a steal, and two rebounds to go with his 24 points. He’s had back-to-back monster games and will be the Kings’ starting point guard with the trade of Greivis Vasquez. Thomas looks ready to take his game to the next level and be a returning contributor to our daily top performers.
Our sleeper line of the night goes to Nicholson who put up 19 points and 11 rebounds in his extended play against the Grizzlies. He added four blocked shots and is worth watching going forward to see if he continues to get these minutes making him a nice big-man pickup.
Another player emerging as his minutes increase is Leuer who had a career-high 12 rebounds last night to go with his 16 points. He’s been in double-digit scoring for three of his last four and has at least six boards in each but is still owned in 0.2% of ESPN leagues. If you need a stop-gap for points and rebounds give him a look.
