Suns beat Lakers 114-108
The Phoenix Suns defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 114-108 at the Staples Center. The Suns improved to 12-9, and the Lakers fell to 10-11.
The good news for Lakers fans is that Kobe Bryant led the team in scoring with 20 points. The bad news is the Lakers lost again. Bryant makes the Lakers a better team, but the question remains how much better? I believe we won’t know for a month or two, so the two loses since Kobe’s return should not be analyzed too closely.
Suns shooting guard Goran Dragic scored 31 points and dropped five dimes to lead Phoenix to victory. The Lakers did not have an answer for Dragic as he continued to drive to the basket, and make layups. Power forward Marcus Morris made 10 of 13 shot attempts from the field, and finished with 22 points. Twin brother Markieff Morris scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three assists. Floor general Eric Bledsoe facilitated the offense with nine assists and 18 points.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 20 points, two rebounds, and three assists. Center Pau Gasol netted 19 points, grabbed five boards, and dropped three dimes. Jodie Meeks, Nick Young, and Jordan Hill had 13 points each, and Xavier Henry scored 12 points. Steve “The Man” Blake dished out 10 assists and scored nine points.
Next game: The Suns play the Kings (6-13) at 9 pm ET on Friday. The Lakers travel to OKC (16-4) on Friday for an 8 pm ET game on ESPN.
