One of the hottest names floating around in trade rumors at the moment is Houston Rockets center Omer Asik who the team is trying desperately to trade. For the better part of two weeks, weāve been hearing about teams possibly interested in trading for the big man and Yahoo! insider Adrian Wojnarowski has listed four teams as the most active in landing Asik by Friday.
Houston is trying to move Asik by then and Woj is reporting that the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers are the finalists in the trade talks.
Woj followed that tweet up with a pice on Yahoo! where he lists Bostonās Brandon Bass, ClevelandāsĀ Anderson Varejao, Atlantaās Paul Milsap and Philadelphiaās Thaddeus Young as potential trade chips that Houston could receive if Asik is tradedto any one of those destinations.
Thereās also a supposed āwild cardā team that Woj doesnāt identify but is active in talks for Asik. All of the chatter on Wojās radar involves the Rockets moving Asik in a three-team deal and we could see that wild card team come in to provide cap assistance or to balance out the trade with picks of some kind.
Either way, the talks seem to be reaching a peak and the Rockets deadline of Friday means the four teams mentioned will be looking to submit final offers to try and land Asik before the weekend.
