
A couple weeks ago the Denver Broncos helped out the Indianapolis Colts by defeated the Tennessee Titans. With that loss by the Titans, it helped them clinch the division for the first time in the post Manning era.
Today, Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts returned the favor by helping the Broncos clinch the AFC West and a first round bye.
Running back Jamaal Charles was coming off a monster game against the Oakland Raiders where he had one of the best games of his career with five touchdowns.
Charles rushed for over 100 yards on 13 carries and recorded a 31 yard rushing touchdown to start off the scoring. It would be Kansas Cityās only score of the game.
Colts running back Donald Brown had himself a great game today as he record two touchdowns that went for over 30 plus yards. His first touchdown was a 33 yard touchdown reception from Luck that put them up 10-7 in the second quarter of the game.
Brown and Trent Richardson piled on the rushing yards against Kansas Cityās stingy defense. Richardson rushed for 43 on 16 carries while Brown recorded 79 off 10 carries.
Second year pro Andrew Luck completed 26 of 37 passing attempts for 241 passing yards and one touchdown. Leading receiver for the Colts was Griff Whalen who had 80 yards receiving off seven receptions.
Luck had four receivers over 30 receiving yards.
Alex Smith and this offense was quiet all day and absolutely hammered by Indyās defense. He was sacked four times for a total of 21 yards and threw two interceptions. He passed for over 150 yards while completing 16 of 29 passing attempts.
Dwayne Bowe was the leading receiver for the Chiefs today with 46 receiving yards.
Todayās loss by the Kansas City Chiefs allowed Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos to clinch the AFC West. Denver also clinched a first round bye and could be playing for home field advantage.
Next week the Indianapolis Colts will host the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kansas City will travel to take on the San Diego Chargers.
