Timberwolves at Clippers final score: LA wins in OT 120-116
In what may have been the best game of the NBA season thus far, the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-116 in overtime Sunday night.
Despite fouling out, Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 32 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Chris Paul had 19 points, 13 assists and six rebounds while Jamal Crawford poured in 22 points.
Kevin Love had another monster game, finishing with with 45 points, 19 rebounds and six assists. Nikola Pekovic had 34 points and 14 rebounds. Ricky Rubio dished out 12 assists, but was held scoreless in 39 minutes.
With just 26 seconds to play, the Timberwolves held a 105-100 lead. After a Griffin layup, Love was fouled and made just one of two free throws. Jamal Crawford then drove to the basket and and got a layup to cut the lead to two. On the next possession, Kevin Martin was trapped in the back court and lost the ball. Crawford took the ball, went to the basket and tied the game. Pekovic couldn’t connect the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.
In overtime, the two teams went back and forth with the Clippers finally taking a 115-114 lead with 38 seconds to play on a beautiful drive and pass to Jared Dudley from Paul. After two free throws from Paul, Love cut the lead to one. The Timberwolves intentionally fouled Paul and he made just one of two. On the next possession, Pekovic missed a hook shot and Paul went back to the line. He hit both free throws to ice it.
The Clippers improve to 20-9 while the Timberwolves fall to 13-15.
