Green Bay Packers Super bowl odds have shot up with return of Aaron Rodgers
By Josh Hill
When an NFL team loses it’s star player, especially when that star player is a star quarterback, it’s not surprising to see their odds of winning the Super Bowl decrease dramatically. That was the case when the Green Bay Packers lost not only Aaron Rodgers to a broken collarbone, but when they started circling the drain as a result.
But now that Rodgers has returned to the lineup and the Packers have strung together some wins, the Vegas oddsmakers are laying off the Packers a bit and have increased their odds of winning the Super Bowl by quite a lot. The team over at Brovada have adjusted the Packers Super Bowl odds from 28:1 without Rodgers in the lineup to 16:1 with him just simply being listed as questionable and taking first-team reps.
"Green Bay Packers Super Bowl Odds (Before Rodgers announcement)28/1Green Bay Packers Super Bowl Odds (After Rodgers announcement)16/1Green Bay Packers Conference Odds (Before Rodgers announcement)16/1Green Bay Packers Conference Odds (After Rodgers announcement)9/1 Total Passing Yards – Aaron Rodgers (GB) Over / Under 290½Total Completions – Aaron Rodgers (GB) Over / Under 23½Total TD Passes – Aaron Rodgers (GB) Over 2½ (+125, 5/4)Under 2½ (-160, 5/8)Total Interceptions – Aaron Rodgers (GB) Over ½ (-130, 10/13)Under ½ (EVEN, 1/1)"
This shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise as the Packers are heating up like they did for their Super Bowl run back in 2010 and as a result they’re becoming favorites once again. They aren’t overwhelming favorites but it just goes to show the power of Aaron Rodgers and his lone effect on the Vegas gambling odds.
