Carolina Panthers win NFC South, No. 2 seed in NFC Playoffs
By Josh Hill
At the beginning of the season, the Carolina Panthers looked to be staring down another lost season and the turmoil was mounting behind the scenes. Head coach Ron Rivera seemed like a dead man walking, Cam Newton was looking like a bust and it seemed as though changes were going to happen.
But oh how things can change as the Panthers went from a lost team to one that owns the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs and a first round bye as well. The Panthers 21-20 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday clinched the NFC South for the Panthers and sealed one of the most memorable comeback stories we’ve seen in recent history in the NFL.
It’s hard to not feel good for the Panthers, who started 1-3 and ended the year 12-4, positioning themselves just one game away from the NFC Championship Game and two away from their second Super Bowl berth in franchise history. Cam Newton and the Panthers went on an 11-1 run after their slow start, which is beyond impressive and has solidified them as the feel good cinderella story of the season not only in the NFL but probably in all of sports as a whole.
