Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans final score: Titans win 16-10
By Stu White
Of all the NFL teams playing in important games on Sunday, the Houston Texans were in the strangest position. While others teams were hoping to secure playoff berths, the Texans needed to lose to the Tennessee Titans in order to guarantee themselves the top pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Losing one final game for a team that hasn’t won since September shouldn’t have been a difficult task, but the Texans put their draft position at risk by leading Sunday’s game 7-6 at the half. But the Texans wised up soon after, surrendering 10 points to the Titans in the second half. Tennessee running back Chris Johnson, who finished the game with 127 yards on the ground, scored on an 11-yard run in the third quarter, and Tennessee kicker Rob Bironas added a field goal in the fourth (his third made field goal of the game, including a 55-yard boot right before halftime).
The Texans had one final opportunity on offense after a Tennessee drive stalled out with about a minute remaining in the game, but Houston quarterback Matt Schaub threw his second interception of the afternoon to seal the much-needed loss.
Sunday’s 16-10 game wasn’t exactly replete with highlights, but there was this interception.
