When the season ended, the Tennessee Titans stated that they had a difficult decision to wrestle with when it came to the future of head coach Mike Munchak. The Titans had only marginally improved under his watch and with a complete overhaul of the roster in order this offseason, the odds were not in Munchak’s favor.

But late last night, it appeared that Munchak’s job would be safe, or at least that was the indication from Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt. The indication may have been leaning towards positive last night but the axe has swiftly fallen on Munchak as ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting the team has fired him effective Saturday.

It’s a little surprising that it took the Titans almost an entire week to fire Munchak, but that shows just how hard the decision really was for the team. With Bill O’Brien and Lovie Smith both off the market, the coaching dominos are starting to fall and the Titans need to make up for lost time when it comes to finding the next head coach of the organization.
