Pistons at Knicks final score: New York hangs on 89-85
Carmelo Anthony scored 34 points, including 13 in the decisive fourth quarter as the New York Knicks held off the Detroit Pistons for an 89-85 victory at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York Tuesday night.
Anthony was 13-of-24 from the field, pulled down four rebounds, had four steals and dished out two assists.
Andre Bargnani added 13 points and 11 rebounds while Raymond Felton chipped in 12 points and six assists.
Outside of Anthony, the Knicks shot 20-of-57 from the field and no other player scored in double figures.
Josh Smith led the Pistons with 21 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks. Greg Monroe had 19 points and seven rebounds and Andre Drummond scored 12 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds.
The Knicks took a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter, but the Pistons used an 11-3 run to cut the lead to 86-85 with just 46 seconds to play. The Pistons fouled Felton, who only connected on one free throw, but Anthony grabbed the rebound and calmly knocked down two from the charity stripe to ice the game.
The Knicks are now 12-22 while the Pistons are 14-21.
