New Orleans Saints’ running back Pierre Thomas has been ruled inactive for Saturday afternoon’s divisional round playoff game at the Seattle Seahawks.

Along with Thomas on the inactive list are quarterback Ryan Griffin, defensive back Terrence Frederick, safety Jordan Pugh, linebacker Rufus Johnson, defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker and wide receiver Nick Toon, according to the Saints’ official website.

Thomas will undoubtedly be a huge loss for the Saints.  With high winds affecting much of the Seattle are this weekend, New Orleans will need all the running help it can get.

Mark Ingram, Darren Sproles and Khiry Robinson will have to pick up the rushing duties for the injured Thomas once again.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Advisory for the Seattle area with gusts expected to reach as high as 57 MPH at times.  Over an inch of rain has fell in the past 24-hours and those conditions are expected to persevere throughout the weekend.

Ingram filled in admirably last week, rushing 18 times for 97 yards and a touchdown in the Saints’ 26-24 Wild Card playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles.  In fact the Saints rushed for 185 yards in that game with 45 from Sproles and 29 from Robinson – far above their season average of 92.1 yards-per-game.

Thomas had been questionable after being limited at practice this week with an unspecified chest injury he sustained in New Orleans’ Week 17 42-17 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
