The Iowa State Cyclones suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday when they were defeated by the Oklahoma Sooners on the road. But what may have been more of a crushing blow was that fact that their star senior guard, and leading scorer, DeAndre Kane went down in the second half with an ankle injury and was taken to the locker room.
Following the game, Kane had x-rays taken on the injured ankle, which thankfully for Kane and the team, came back negative.
Still, although the ankle isn’t broken, there are still many wondering what Kane’s status is for the huge match up Iowa State has on Monday night with the Kansas Jayhawks.
As for an answer to that question, we may not know that until right up until game time Monday evening, because Kane himself doesn’t even know.
"“It’s hurting really bad,” Kane told Hines. “It’s throbbing. It’ll probably swell up on the plane ride back home. We’ll see how it feels in the next two days. “I for sure want to play. I’ll do whatever I can to get out get out on the court with my brothers.”"
Iowa State is certainly in a tight spot with Kane’s injury. Not only do they have Kansas on Monday, but they have a rough stretch in the Big 12 coming up with Texas, Oklahoma State and a rematch with Oklahoma.
