The Detroit Lions were one of the teams in the running to land San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhun as their next head coach, but they received some bad news on Monday evening when they learned with the rest of the league that Whisenhunt was set to be the next coach of the Tennessee Titans.

With one of the Lions top targets now unavailable, the team could turn to their next target — former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak, who was fired after the season.

From Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:

The Lions would obviously have preferred to have their number one choice, but now they must restart their search.

If Munchak is not the man who lands the job, then former Indianapolis Colts head coach and current Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell could be the man to watch.
