On Sunday evening, Denver Bronco’s quarterback Peyton Manning will again square off against his arch rivals, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
On Wednesday, Manning had high praise for the Patriots’ head coach.
“Coach Belichick is the best coach that I’ve ever competed against and I think it’s safe to say he’ll go down as the greatest NFL coach of all time,” Manning said via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “The teams that he has coached that I’ve competed against have always been well coached, always been prepared, always played hard for 60 minutes — I think that’s a couple things that stood out about the teams he’s coached. I played against him when he was the defensive coordinator with the Jets and then the head coach in New England. Those things jump out every single week, and to me that speaks to his coaching.”
Manning has squared off against the Patriots three times in the postseason. The Patriots defeated the Indianapolis Colts in the 2004 AFC Championship game and the 2005 Divisional Round. Manning’s Colts defeated the Patriots in the 2007 AFC Title game.
In each case, the winning team won the Super Bowl.
The Patriots and Broncos will kick off at 3:00 pm EST Sunday.
