The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are duking it out in the NFC Championship a game and these two teams don’t like each other. 49ers safety Donte Whitner, who wanted to change his name to just “Hitner,” was penalized for a hit on Seahawks tight end Luke Wilson.
The call was for defenseless receiver cause it definitely doesn’t look like he hit him helmet-to-helmet. He almost misses completely and it looks like his hip catches him in the helmet possibly. In reality this play could’ve been a lot worse than it turned out to be and the call could’ve been an effort to deter Whitner or other players from hits like this as the game goes on.
