With the NBA trade deadline a month away, trade rumors are going to start to heat up like never before. This doesn’t mean that trades will for sure happen, but it does mean that big names are going to be discussed in rumors. One of those names is Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo and Sam Amico of FOX Sports speculates on a few different trades that could be discussed involving Rondo.

The two trades that make the most sense would involve Rondo being shipped off to either the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Houston Rockets. The Celtics have done business with both in the past and a Rondo trade may end up being discussed as a result.

For the Timberwolves, trading for Rondo makes sense in that it sends a clear message to Kevin Love that the team wants to win now and wants to keep him happy. Amico states a trade would likely involves draft picks as well as Ricky Rubio, but such a deal could make a great deal of sense for both sides.

The only problem seems to be both Love and Rondo would need new contracts in the same summer, but having to build around Kevin Love and Rajon Rondo isn’t the worst thing in the world. The Wolves tried to trade for Rondo before, so their interest is likely still there.

As far as Rondo heading to Houston, the Rockets seem to covet their picks which could be a hangup, but having a core of Dwight Howard, James Harden and Rajon Rondo would be worth mortgaging your future over.

All of this is speculation by Amico, but helps outlines the type of trade talk we can expect, true or not, with the deadline approaching.
