Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has never been show about his love for Skittles, which has led to the Seahawks rusher receiving free product and the team’s fans giving “Skittle showers” after he finds the endzone. But now, Lynch will finally get some financial compensation for his promotion of the candy brand.
According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell., Skittles will announce on Tuesday that they have signed an endorsement deal with Lynch and that donate $10,000 to Lynch’s Fam First Foundation every time he scores a touchdown on Sunday.
This is the first time that Skittles has ever endorsed an athlete.
Skittles will also auction off a Skittles covered football helmet and football and a Skittles covered megaphone, to honor Seattle’s 12th man.
With Lynch’s love for the “power pellets,” stores in Seattle have had a hard time keeping the candy in stock. Restaurants in the area have also used Skittles as an ingredient in sausages and CenturyLink Field sells a “Beast Burger” that comes with a side of Skittles.
During Super Bowl week, Skittles has created a limited edition packages of a “Seattle Mix,” which includes only blue and green candies, that they will be handing out.
